How We Measure True Formula 1 Performance

Unfiltered Grand Prix results rarely tell the full story. Strategy errors, pit-stop misfires, and yellow flags obscure true speed. The PrixDex Performance Index (PPI) normalizes raw telemetry across qualifying and race sessions to reveal true driver skill and car performance.

1Qualifying Performance Ceiling

Rather than using final grid position (which can be distorted by grid penalties), qualifying statistics reflect peak theoretical lap capability. We measure each driver’s delta against the fastest recorded sector combination per session stage.

2Clean-Air Stint Normalization

During a Grand Prix, cars trapped in DRS trains lose artificial downforce. PrixDex telemetry algorithms discard laps driven within 1.2 seconds behind another car, leaving only true clean-air stint averages.

3Tire Compound & Fuel Correction

Every stint lap time is adjusted for fuel burn-off (~0.03s per lap per kg) and compound degradation deltas, ensuring a Soft tire run in Lap 5 is directly comparable to a Hard tire stint on Lap 45.
